RockREMOTE Mini is a compact Iridium Certus 100 terminal for adding satellite IP connectivity to remote equipment without building your own enclosure or board-level integration.

 

Use it when your system needs an IP path beyond terrestrial networks, with Ethernet, serial, and GPIO interfaces for connecting to field equipment, controllers, sensors, and host systems. It also supports Iridium Messaging Transport, so you can send compact message-based payloads when a full IP session is more than you need.

 

Mini is built for low power remote deployments, with 10–30V DC input, PoE support, 300mW typical idle receive mode, and sleep mode below 36mW at 12V. The IP66 enclosure is designed for permanent outdoor installation, with mounting options for fixed or mobile deployments.

Cloudloop Platform

RockREMOTE Mini works with Cloudloop, Ground Control’s platform for managing satellite IoT devices, services, usage, and data.

Use Cloudloop to configure and provision devices, monitor usage, manage alerts, review account activity, and control network settings such as firewalls. Cloudloop Data can route payloads into your own systems using webhooks, email, MQTT, or API integrations.

For developers, the useful bit is that the satellite service layer is already handled. You can connect RockREMOTE Mini to your application without building the device management, routing, and subscription infrastructure from scratch.

Frequently Asked questions

No, RockREMOTE Mini / Mini OEM requires the connection of external antennas to establish communication links. You must attach an approved external Iridium Certus 100 antenna to the TNC female connector port, and a compliant active or passive GNSS antenna to the SMA female port.

No. While the terminal arrives with an unactivated Iridium satellite SIM card pre-installed inside the 2FF layout slot, all airtime configurations and data profiles are handled independently. A matching Iridium Certus 100 or IMT billing plan must be provisioned via your Cloudloop dashboard profile before the terminal can authenticate and pass field data over the network.

External computers, data loggers, or field microcontrollers can communicate over the wired 10/100 Ethernet port using standard TCP/UDP IP networks. Alternatively, host processors can manage data transfers and transmit system commands through direct serial lines supporting hardware-selectable RS232 or RS485 modes brought out via the included multi-core cable assembly.

Local network parameters, WAN/LAN data balancing laws, outbound/inbound port filtering rules, and port forwarding structures are modified by loading a user configuration file or sending commands wirelessly over Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE 5.0) utilizing our local configuration API frameworks or companion software app
